I love bad horror movies, so I have to love Saw. The first part was genius, the rest was garbage. I bet your wandering what the hell this have to do with Hydrovibe? Well that’s simple, on the soundtrack on Saw 3 I heard a perfect song, and yea, it was from Hydrovibe. So like the obsessed big boy I am, I wanted to find more about this band, and I’m happy I went with my guts, because this is awesome!
Nothing Left To Lose, starts with the song ‘Fifteen Minutes’ and the beautifull voice on which I fell in love with is finally available in another song. Instrumentally it’s nothing but pure beauty also, the guitar is really amazing, and Mat did a great job doing it. It isn’t hard as hell, but it’s delicious rock, something to turn on when you want to have some fun with your girlfriend/wife, or just when you want to sit down and relax on some quality music.
The voice of Heather is truly special, and I’m happy I didn’t stop watching the Saw movies. Hydrovibe is new, refreshing! Not anything like the standard rock band, not the crap that’s usually in the charts. This is something you’d actually listen to, even when it’s not top ten anymore, this is good music, with a possibility to become big
The trend of good music continues song after song, and since I’ve been writing reviews constantly, this is a welcome change! Finally something inspiring. It’s simple, yet complex. It contains more than the usual ‘I love you’ or ‘I wanna kill you’ which usually is the standard message for most of the music nowadays. ‘Savior’ is also a beautiful song, both instrumentally as lyrically. I have no idea what the writer has been through, but my respect for the lyrics, and my respect for the emotion that Heather can put into the music.
‘Shallow Grave’ just follows the trend, awesome music that relaxes you. But if you’re in a mood to think problems over, this will also be a great inspiration. The music has many aspects, which only makes it more interesting. It will attract a wide audience, which will be a downside to some people, but in this case it’s really not a bad thing. The diversity causes different genres to combine, so that annoying girl next-door will love it, but you’ll also love, it so you’ll finally have something similar with that brat. ‘Nothing Left To Lose’ really is a total package.
‘Suture’ starts off pretty loud, which immediately satisfies the metalhead in me, which was screaming for some heavy guitars. This flows over into something calm and mellow, but again it just fits the rest like a charm. Instrumentally and production wise they may have taken their time, but that was time brilliantly spent! The riffs may not be the most complicated, something what will be said by some, but then again, why do you need something complicated to create something good?
The titeltrack ‘Nothing Left To Lose’ is one of the highlights of the album. Everything that was great before, is perfect here. You can see this is a band that know what they’re doing. And this is only the debut, let alone what they’ll be able to create after 10 years of collaboration. The calming effect is really special on this album.
Hydrovibe is a band will be big someday, without any doubt. In pretty much all aspects, they have it made. It’s new, refreshing and original. Not the standard rockband that’s usually on MTV, but a band that will be interesting for a mainstream and an alternative crowd. This is a band that I’m gonna keep my eye on!
