Dawn of silence

Wicked Saint Or Righteous Sinner
GMR Music

Genre: Melodic Heavy Metal

Around the year of 2000 Patrik Johansson and Mats Johansson picked up a guitar and start practicing Iron Maiden songs with Tobbe Edqvist on drums. After a while Mats younger brother joined the band with his bassguitar and Patrik started so sing. Dawn Of Silence is born. That they played Maiden songs in the beginning is obvious when you listen to their second studio album Wicked Saint Or Righteous Sinner.

The järn-jungfru (you can translate it as the Iron Maiden) of Sweden is losing her chains and is really grown up as a mature band writing their own good songs. The cd starts with Chasing The Ghost. This first song is also their first single of the album. A catchy song with a fine chorus. They did their homework according writing hitsingles. At the end of the song they play and sing just an octave higher.

This results in a acceleration of the song and fits quite well. In the second song Escape The Night they do it again and it works. In Quest For Life Dawn of Silence shows us a beautiful intermezzo in the middle of the song. Just for a moment they slow down before they put their pedal on the metal again. The other songs on the album are quite the same. Well build-up songs in which they show us that they made a damn good album with catchy songs with a couplet and a chorus. They play it all really good and Patrik is a very nice vocalist.

The only thing I miss is that Midas Touch. That extraordinary, special feeling. And that’s a pity, because the album is really fine. But maybe I am just the wicked saint in this story.
