Published: 22 April 2010On Artificial Unitopia goes further along the line which from their debut album More Than A Dream (2005) and The Garden (2008) have been deployed. Compared to the album from 2008, the Australian band makes light exposures. The amount of music this time is limited to one CD and although the tension is still slow, the band knows to write more sharper songs.
After a quiet Suffociation the band comes with more steam in the title track. In Artificial World Unitopia let hear a side that sounds recognizable (read: predictable), pleasant and harmonious. On his time it is obviously quite good, but apart from a few musical excesses in Nothing Lasts Forever and the elongated Tesla it remains very quiet.
What stands out most in Nothing Lasts Forever are the musical and textual references to The Beatles' Fool On The Hill. On Rule of 3's and Gone In The Blink Of An Eye we hear a more solid and adventurous band.
Especially in Gone In The Blink Of An Eye they speeding up. Reclections and The Great Reward stand out in beautiful arrangements. That and the social conscience lyrics make Artificial still an album that'll do.
