Silverlane - My inner demon

According to many investigations it isn’t possible to do two things properly at the same time. Simon Michael, the talented drummer of Subway to Sally and Silverlane from Germany, proves the opposite.

He released and distributed with Silverland in 2005 the concept album Legends Of Safar by himself, now it is time for the official debutalbum My Inner Demon. Back in 1995 he started, only 11 years old, with his brother Chris Alexander on guitar, his sister Dodo Schmitt on keyboards and their schoolfriend Daniel Saffer on bass this band Silverland.

In the meantime Silverlane is expanded with Ecki Singer as the vocalist and Uli Holzermer on guitar. With success. Together they have recorded a very strong album. The first four songs are very good rock songs with catchy choruses.

In the song My Inner Demon however, you suddenly get various musical surprises in which you hear different influences. From traditional heavy guitarriffs in Kingdom Of Sand till eastern elements in the song In The Desert and from bombastic music in My Inner Demon till bittersweet in the extraordinary beautiful Slowly.

For Simon Michael this is quite normal. Opposite genres could easily exist without any friction. When the melody is good, everything is possible. Silverlane prove this on their CD. Howling guitars, driving drums, virtuous violins and fantastic vocals. Everything seems to fit. These five gentlemen and one lady from Southern Germany are capable of making a debut album with various influences.

And I’m so glad that a new generation of talented musicians can make songs like these in so many music styles. We’re lucky.
