Poisonblack

Of Rust And Bones
Century Media Records

Genre: Goth Rock/Metal

I always hope to find something special in a band and now I think I have found a new, to me, band who has something special to offer. The Finnish band Poisonblack combines the powerful metal and rock elements with a calm atmosphere. There are just a few who can do that to my point of view. The band doesn’t class him as a metal band, but as a dark rock band.
The combination of heavy riffs, sweet melodies and a soft voice make the music very accessible, even for people who don’t love the heavy music.

With subjects that contains must elements of the normal live people have, the music will eventually be valuable to many people who seek comfort and a place where they can ease their minds. My Sun Shines Black is a song that represents this very good and is the opening song on the album. The intro is melodic and fast, which flows into a very solid riff and the sweet, raw vocals of Ville Laihiala come in. Especially the chorus represents the great power of the band and the vocals. Leech is something from a whole other calibre, but still shares the same powerful chorus, melodic and with touching vocals.

With different characteristic verses the songs always fall back to the melodic chorus, the soul of Poisonblack. With this I also have to mention Buried Alive that is kind of a mix of the first two songs and absolutely a song that could be a single of the album. A ballad can’t be left out and the band treats his listener on Invisible, which also contains a great solo. After the ballad they come in fast and heavy again with Casket Case, which also sounds heavier than the previous songs. Then it Down The Drain that follows, which is again a slow song.

Together with Invisible and The Last song this is the longest song (eight minutes long). The Last Song is a song that contains a lot of power and even suggests that this was the song where the whole band put in everything they had left after a heavy recording session. The band has made a good product, in balance and harmony, full of melodic and heavy rock. The songs represent the band very well and Of Rust And Bones will be a great addition to the collection of the fans.

For all people who love some good rock songs with an under control emotional voice which will bring the most of positive shivers this would be a great album. Enjoy this in times when life seems to be tough. You will feel better for sure.
