Published: 05 February 2010Audrey Horne is a melodic hardrock band with roots in Bergen, Norway. The name was taken from Sherilyn Fenn's character in the television series Twin Peaks by David Lynch. In 2002 Audrey Horne is established. Some group members earned their credibility in black metal bands. Arve Isdol also know as Ice Dale, handelded the six strings with Enslaved and Tom Cato Visnes butchered the bass in Gorgoroth.
After the four track ep Confessions And Alcohol, the band unleashed their debut No Bay Handa on humanity. Although some musicians have a black metal background, Audrey Horne took the road less travelled and walked the path of hardrock before grunge. The album got excellent reviews but touring, success and an international breakthrough are limited to their homeland of Norway. Here and there they manage to obtain some prestigious awards but that is all they can force.
Around 2007 the second album is welcomed even more enthusiastic than the first and they undertake an extensive European tour despite some changes in musicians. In 2009 a third one follows. In February 2010 they announce their forthcoming album. This one still is very melodic with a prominent role for the keyboard.
The foundation for these songs are formed by solid, structured and original riffs, supported by the pumping rhythmn section and filled up beautifully with the keyboard parts. Singer...has a clean and clear voice but lyricall ythis man is on the edge of depression. The negativity in the words just dripps of the songs. Song titles like...need no further explanation and proofs this point.
Fair is fair. These Norwegians will not obtain the first prize in the originality contest. They provide a strong and solid album but there is really nothing new under the sun. The third disc usually is a critical turning point in the music history of a band. It's the moment to create a sound of their own and have a clear vision towards the future. They clearly missed the boat but followers of nineties hardrock have their needs met with this creation.
