Wim Roelants - Master in music

Tonight guitarists or would be guitarplayers get a unique chance to refine their technique. Wim Roelants, born in Antwerp and 35 years old, is probably the only Belgian guitarist who has international significance and wants to share technique, knowledge and most of all the passion for music with the interested. At the tender age of eight Wim already played the guitar. For the next five years he is engaged with a classical education and became the proud owner of his first electric guitar at the age of thirteen.

His parents, involved in music themselves, bought him that guitar. This self taught musician has a phenomenal technique without ever loosing sight of the melody. He took the spot as guitar player in various bands anf got the chance as such to tour in many clubs in the Benelux. At the age of twenty he left for Spain where he again made the local club scene unsafe. Today he is often called upon as a session player, he still is a music teacher and gives clinics and masterclasses around the world. He is also endorsee for Laney Amplification, Lag Guitars and Elixir Strings.

His solo CD Burn saw the light of day a few years ago and his intructional dvd Guitar Experience Volume one is available. A Satriani song is serving as an opener for the evening. The six guitarist present can sit back and relax and watch the ultimate and sublime guitar technique. After a brief introduction Wim decides to go for what these guitar players want. Instead of systematically going through some standard techniques, he just asked about problems they are struggling with.

The sympathetic six string raper put his attention to those problems at hand which is unique. Many clinics and masterclasses are usually on a tight schedule and Roelants just goes the other way which is appreciated by the present musicians. Roelants also performs some of his own songs from his Burn cd...and questions are asked and answered. Last song of the evening is the beautiful Summer Song written by Satriani. Then back to the bar for a nice cold beer or a coke and then back home to warm up the amplifier and practice those new techniques untill your fingers bleed.
