McFly, a pop rock band from London founded in 2003 with four boys between the age of 15 and 17 years young. Meanwhile, the acne disappeared and they already have had about 16 top 20 songs which seven popped up at number one in the UK chards. They released four CD’s, a greatest hits album and six DVD’s. The small room at the Oosterpoort is filled with about 500 teenage girls, a few boyfriends who needed to come along with their girlfriends and the parents kept all the couches in the back. Arms, cheeks and banners are plastered with texts such as I <3 McFly and McFly Kicks Bum?1 But the girls had to be more patient cause first played the Dutch band Destine.

Destine is a new Dutch band, clips are broadcasted on TMF and song can be heard often at the Dutch radio station 3FM. Although all the publicity in the media, the main part of the audience did not knew the band yet. But they received Destine kindly and responded quite enthusiastically on their performance. Not only in the USA or the UK the response on the Taylor Swift / Kanye west hype is high, but also in Holland and Destine played a pretty good cover of Taylor Swifts Love Story. Apparently the whole room seemed to be a huge fan of this lady, cause all the girls are singing it as loud as they can. After half an hour Destine ended their show with their big hit In Your Arms.
A bad habit leads me to the smoking area and still everyone stays at their place except a few Destine fans and a mother. At nine o’ clock I heard some yelling from the room and decided to take a quick look if it already have been started. It seemed to be that only one of the guys appeared next to the stage.
The show started at half past 10 and I was really happy with my ear protection cause of all the screaming fans. McFly started with the song One For The Radio and soon we noticed that bassist Dougie Poynter couldn’t make it to the stage tonight. A bassist is of course of great importance for a number of songs, so the band decided to play an acoustic set during the show. Not one fan seemed to be disappeared cause everyone sings as loud as they can. The rest of the band is still trying to give an active and interactive show and retrieves all the archived tricks to reach this.
At the end of the day this was a – for me- fun experience and for the fans an amazing show.
