Published: 02 March 2010But before Dead by Sunrise will take over the stage it is up to Delta Fiasco to warm up the audience. I didn’t really know Delta Fiasco but was happily surprised when they started playing. I had listened to some of their songs on CD before going to the show and wasn’t all that excited to see them as the opener of the night. But when they started playing it was clear to me that Delta Fiasco is an awesome live-band. What I disliked most on CD were the vocals. But unlike on CD the vocals were very strong. The electro-beats were awesome as well. Delta Fiasco would have been an awesome opener for Julien-K, but they also did a great job getting the Dead by Sunrise audience all pumped up.

At 9 o’clock the venue was packed. When the lights went off it was clear that it was not just the fans that were excited for the show, but the whole band was as well. They started the set with the song Fire. And the band was on fire. There were some technical difficulties, hint to Julien-K fans, but because of their professionalism you could hardly notice anything. And the problems were solved in no-time anyway. Chester’s vocals, which are not always as tight as they should be at Linkin Park shows, were great tonight. And he seemed to have as much fun as every other person in the venue. The audience was already singing along and jumping around, but it really went off when they played Condemned and My Suffering. The band got offstage after playing My Suffering.

The fans hadn’t had enough though and so Dead by Sunrise was back onstage within minutes to play some two more songs. They started their encore with Crawl Back In. Everyone was singing along. The last song they played tonight was the Misfits cover 20 Eyes. 20 Eyes was awesome. The whole band was jumping around and Chester was even skanking around. The audience was wild and surprisingly enough, Linkin Park/DBS fans are not exactly from the Misfits generation, almost everyone was singing along. There even were a few mosh pits here and there. After 20 Eyes the show was over. The members of Dead by Sunrise stayed onstage a few minutes before leaving.

Dead by Sunrise played an awesome show in a packed Melkweg. Chester, Amir, Ryan and everyone else on stage were full of energy and sounded awesome. The show wasn’t very long. But then again, the band just released their first album so they don’t have a lot of songs yet. They did play almost every song on the album and of course a Misfits cover and the audience loved it. It was a great night for the audience as well as for the band. Amir’s post on twitter, right after the show confirmed that. “Amsterdam! Amazing show tonight thank you!”
