'Slash and Epiphone go for Gold'.

Slash is one of the most recognizable musicians and figures in the world. Whether from Guns ‘n Roses, Velvet Revolver or just walking down the street. And when you think of him, you picture him with a Les Paul slung over his shoulder.

Slash and Epiphone have teamed up together to created the new Limited Edition Les Paul Goldtop. Limited to just 2,000 worldwide.

They are built using many of the same traditional guitar-building processes and techniques that have made Gibson the absolute finest in the world. Each Slash Les Paul Goldtop is built to Epiphone's meticulous standards by the skilled and gifted that design, create and assemble the various parts of each individual guitar.

Each new guitar comes with a hardshell case featuring a custom Slash logo, a certificate of authenticity personally hand signed by Slash a metal-studded guitar strap, and 24 custom Slash guitar picks.

What does Slash himself have to say about the guitar? "My new Epiphone signature model is a great playing, sounding and looking guitar. For the money it's one of the best guitars you can buy." He is not too far off!

I had a chance to play the guitar and here is my two cents: The guitar definitely delivers the sound you need to play rock. The action is incredible with a very fast neck, and great frets. The finish is incredible looking. This is a very nice looking guitar with very rich tones.

The 60's shaped neck is very inviting for both chords and shredding. The guitar stays quite even on high gain settings. I have found most Les Pauls to be great at the whole blues-rock thing but not so great when you want a nice clean sound. The Seymour Duncan Alnico Pro IIs over a vintage characteristics and gives welcomes lift to the guitar.

The Epiphone Slash Les Paul Classic Goldtop retails for about $1000 in the US.
