"Over it’s more-than100-year history, the association has evolved from a national entity representing the interests of music products retailers to an international association including both commercial and retail Members. The International Music Products Association’s name, NAMM, comes from the acronym “National Association of Music Merchants,” but the long form of the name is no longer used. Today, we simply say that NAMM stands for the interests of the global music products industry."

That is what NAMM stands for. Its annual winter session/ convention in Anaheim, California (home of Disneyland) takes on a life of its own for several days. The large convention hall is turned into a land of rock stars and new instruments being unveiled for the industry. From the first promo events and parties Wednesday night, until closing on Sunday, it is impossible not to see the latest and greatest in music gear, rock stars, not to mention hearing impromptu jam sessions along with formal all star shows.

The first NAMM events included Eddie Van Halen showing off his wares for the Fender retailers, as well as Zakk Wylde and The Donnas playing for attendees. Other highlights included appearances by Quincy Jones to kick off the event, as well as Yoko Ono, Jackson Browne, Gene Simmons, Slash, and too many more to list.
The companies dress to impress and the booths are worth the price of admission alone. The latest gear and models are displayed for all to see and enjoy.
NAMM- there is nothing quite like it.
