George Lynch Guitar Clinic - Inspiration is the key to his success!

If you’ve never attended a guitar clinic with George, its 50% shredding, 25% comedic storytelling and 25% product demonstration. I promise it will be 110% of your time well spent.

Whenever George comes to the NJ/NYC area, I clear my schedule to see him. During these clinics he shreds through 6 to7 backing music tracks from Dokken, Lynch Mob, Souls of We and songs he’s never recorded. As he lets loose, the crowd made up of fans and customers alike couldn’t help but to be in awe of his playing. As he stood on a small make shift stage in front of 50 people tearing through songs with his Snakes and Skulls ESP, you can’t help but realizes that this guy has been blessed with a god given ability to play guitar.

From fills to runs to sweeps to arpeggios, you soon realize that no amount of practice would make an average guy who picks up a guitar achieve that level of skill. Sad for some, inspirational for others. As George tells the crowd mid-way into his set, you have to constantly challenge yourself in life. Whether it be playing guitar, write songs or move forward with a career. You just need to find your inspiration and act upon it. Words that resonated true with all the gear heads in the crowd.

This evening George was demonstrating his new effects pedal, the G2G - George Lynch “Mr. Scary” Signature Pedal. The G2G provides 40 patches (20 studio and 20 live) created by George Lynch himself along with 40 patches for the user to fill with their own creations. George tells the crowd that this pedal has $150,00 of the best equipment money can buy crammed into it. With this pedal you can emulate the famous guitar sounds of “Mr. Scary” and “Dream Warriors,” along with a variety of other tones. (To learn more about his G2G pedal, check out my review on FURY’s Gear pages at the end of this week)

After his set, George did a Q&A session where I learned that he has his hands in many exciting products and musical endeavors.

• He working with ESP to hand building a signature line of guitars with distressed hand carved bodies which animal bones, customized acid washed hardware and hand wound pick-ups

• His signature amp, the Lynch Box by Randall is constantly evolving and being improved upon year after year.

• He paints and his artwork will be displayed in galleries with the likes of other rock and rollers like Paul Stanley
• Souls of We will be touring the West Coast up until September
• Lynch Mob will be putting out a new CD in the fall and possible tour with Alice Cooper

Whether you are looking to be inspired by George’s playing, hear some great road stories, or get a few autographs be sure to check him out when he does a clinic by you. Ask him to tell you the story about his old bands Gorilla, with the defrocked priest and alter boy singer or about when the truck full of chickens went on fire in front on his car while rushing to catch a plane!
