Galows End

Sweden based Gallows End releases a three track promo cd. Their debut cd is set to be released sometime in the winter of 2009, a little sticker on the blank white sleeve says so ... So this is a so called ‘teaser disc’: trying to get people interested in future releases. Well, it worked for me! What’s on this ‘demonstration’ is old school heavy metal at its best and reminds me of bands like Iced Earth, Fifth Angel and Eidolon. Guitar player Thord Klarström has written, arranged and performed all music at his 7th Gate Studios during 2007. Thord is also the one who sings on these recordings, since they couldn’t find a suitable singer. He’s doing a damn good job indeed! The production is great and sounds really heavy. The Unborn Flag kicks off heavily, with a lot of melody. Chopping riffs, double twin parts, grooving drums and recognizable choruses, all the ingredients are present! Track two is called Set The World In Flames and is a typical straight forward sing along song. This is also the case with closing song Kingdom Of The Damned. Not spectacular or original at all, but just very nice to listen to! All songs are also on the MySpace site of Gallows End! Let’s hope mister Klarström and company keep their promise as written on the little sticker and get a record deal, so they can deliver their full length cd in the winter of 2009 … we’ll keep an eye out for them!
